at the Landhotel Rohregger in Neukirchen

Both summer and autumn are dreamlike in the Wildkogel Arena. Here in the western area of the state of Salzburg, near to the border with Tirol, there is an extremely large offer of leisure activities.

If you love sport, then alongside hiking, climbing, cycling and mountain biking, you can also spend your day swimming, running, rafting, canyoning, riding, paragliding, doing archery, playing tennis and trying out many more activities in Neukirchen and the region.

At these locations and during and other possibilities, you will learn about the tradition and cultures of the friendly locals. You may also meet new friends along the way.

Perhaps this year you are planning 2 holidays to the Wildkogel Arena - come to us again during the “Harvest Festival” at the end of August, a great 5th season of the year!

And don't forget: If you sit in a rustic Alpine inn or a cosy guest house - make sure to try the regional delicacies and treats!

Swimming lakes and Mountain lakes

The wonderful natural swimming lakes at Neukirchen am Großvenediger have a lot to offer athletes and families: The swimming lake is bordered by a large lounging area with shaded trees. A flatter section of the natural swimming lake is separated off for younger children. There's also a raft in this area, upon which kids and teenagers love to spend their time.

In addition to this, the children's play area has a large climbing frame, a slide and a water play area. In the large sandbox, kids are guaranteed to make beautiful sandcastles. Older children enjoy themselves on the two beach volleyball courts near to the entrance. And if your get hungry or thirsty, there's an Imbiss snack stand on-site.

Those who like to keep it cool, can jump into one of the mountain lakes when on a hike - a unique and refreshing experience!

The famous mountain valleys

Neukirchen and the region have several alpine valleys that are famous for their beauty and naturalness. Here you will find the upper and lower Sulzbach valley, the Habach Valley with its Emeralds, as well as the Krimmler Achen valley behind the Krimml waterfalls. If you want to, you can even hike up to a glacier at the end of the valley. All valleys can be explored on foot or discovered on mountain bike. The alpine inns will spoil you with home-made delicacies.

Harvest Festival - the “5th Season of the Year”

There's something amazing about Neukirchen and the state of Salzburg: We have 5 instead of the usual 4 seasons of the year! Thanksgiving and the Alpine Cattle Drive

One of the most important times in the year is autumn with Thanksgiving. During this time, festivals are held, culinary experiences are served and there are celebrations.

The Alpine Cattle Drive Festival - when cows and sheep from the alpine meadows come back to their homely barns - is always worth a visit. Around the time of this event there are celebrations and people sit together cosily. Get to know the friendly locals and enjoy your time.
